SUVs With The Highest Waiting Period In 2021!. 

There has been a significant rise in the number of SUVs on the road in recent years. Both segments, compact & mid-sized SUVs, have seen tremendous demand lately. While the production was previously impacted by COVID-19, causing a delay and developing a waiting period. 

This waiting period was further extended when some carmakers stopped production to cover up the oxygen needs of the nation. After that, the automobile industry was hit by the semiconductor shortage. As cars are being technologically advanced daily, hence they need these chipsets to function. 

Compact SUVs such as Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet have a waiting period for a few months only. The most recently launched Tata Punch already has a waiting period of 4 months, but others such as Thar & Creta have crossed the 9-month mark:

Mahindra Thar.

Mahindra launched the second generation of the most loved Indian offroader in 2020. The Thar has already crossed more than 75,000 bookings, out of which less than 30,000 have reached the customers.
With limited production and the chip shortage, the waiting period has reached almost 12 months. After acquiring the required components, the dealership would also install some infotainment systems later to deliver the car sooner if the customer wants.

Mahindra XUV700. 

Mahindra launched the XUV700 this year after teasing all the first in segment features one by one. The market response was terrific and crossed 50,000 bookings in 2 days. Without a doubt, it is the ultimate SUV, but with production not getting faster, the waiting period has already reached about one to two years.

Nissan Magnite. 

The Magnite has been the choice of the budget buyers, making it the most sold car from the carmaker. Nissan launched this compact SUV last year and received a good response. With a little faster production, they deliver about 3,000 cars in a month, but the waiting period is still about 8 months.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. 

Ertiga has been the most selling MPV for a while; it offers a good package with comfort and fuel efficiency. It has a waiting period of about 9 months for the CNG variants and about 4-5 months for the petrol variants.

The hike in fuel prices explains the demand for the CNG variant. Maruti Suzuki has always had a significant share in the Indian market, with Ertiga being the car of the year 2019.

Hyundai Creta. 

Creta has held a considerable share in the mid-size SUV segment. The second generation is currently running on the roads, which was launched last year. Offering good performance along with features it has been a favourite of the people. Production was affected due to the semiconductor crisis and increasing demand; the waiting period has now reached 9 months.

Hyundai has also given it a facelift in Indonesia, which could reach India by next year. Creta is expected to receive considerable competition with new competitors such as XUV700, Taigun, Kushaq & Astor.
