Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV: Price, Features, & Specifications.
Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the much-anticipated Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV in India at Rs. 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new SUV joins the recently launched XUV700 and Thar in Mahindra’s modern lineup of accessible yet premium SUVs. The Scorpio-N will be sold alongside the previous generation of the Scorpio, which will be renamed as the Scorpio Classic. Here is everything you need to know about the new Mahindra Scorpio-N.
> A New Generation
Since its launch in 2002, the Mahindra Scorpio has become one of the iconic Indian SUVs, along side the Tata Safari and the Mahindra Thar. Despite its immense popularity in India and abroad, the Scorpio has mostly received facelifts for the last two decades.
The new Scorpio-N is a completely new SUV and is built on a ladder frame chassis. This differentiates the Scorpio-N from the XUV700, which is built on a monocoque chassis, and should offer greater off-roading capability than the SUVs in its price segment. Additionally, the new Scorpio-N is a three-row SUV with a forward-facing third row, which should improve overall useability.
>Scorpio-N Exteriors and Interior
With the introduction of a new generation, the Mahindra Scorpio-N is receiving a complete overhaul of the exterior and interior design. The updated design makes it a more desirable SUV than the previous generation and should help it compete against other SUVs in its price segment.
>Scorpio-N Exteriors
The new Scorpio-N retains the muscular but boxy silhouette of the previous generation Scorpio, and updates the aesthetic for the modern customer. The new SUV has grown in size and measures 4,662 mm in length, 1,917 mm in width, and 1,870 mm in height. The wheelbase has also grown to 2,750 mm, offering more space for second and third row passengers.
The front of the Scorpio-N now sports a more mature design that incorporates elements of the previous generation’s aesthetic. The square headlamp cluster and the new six-slat grille provide a more mature first impression. The side profile of the new SUV is now more muscular while also featuring black plastic cladding for added ruggedness.
>Scorpio-N Interiors
The most significant change in the new Scorpio-N are the front facing third row seats that replace the side-facing jump seats of the previous generation. The new Mahindra SUV is now more of a three-row SUV than before and should appeal to a wider audience. Unlike the XUV700, Mahindra is offering the Scorpio-N in six and seven seater variants, further differentiating the two SUVs.
>Scorpio-N Features
As the Scorpio-N moves into more premium territory, Mahindra is providing more premium features on he new SUV. In addition to the electric sunroof, the Scorpio-N is also equipped with the following:
- 6-way powered driver’s seat adjustment
- 12-speaker Sony sound system
- Rear camera
- Up to 6 airbags
- 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display
- 7-inch MID cluster
- Dual zone automatic climate control
- Boot space of up to 786 litres
- Hill hold and hill descent control
- Up to 18-inch alloy wheels
>Scorpio-N Engines and Transmissions
Mahindra has equipped the Scorpio-N with the same engines and transmissions as the XUV700. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine produces 200 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque, while the 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine produces 175 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.
